Sometimes I sit down and have imaginary conversations. I have a pretty strong sense of precognition that tends to come in the form of clairaudience – so these conversations, or something similar, are likely to happen (or if you’re into that sort of woo-woo thing – they ARE happening in another dimension.)  Here’s one of those conversations.

Imaginary Skeptical Stranger: Okay then, what can you tell me in 10 minutes – from my hands – that can affect the way I do business?

Real Me: What about the way you do business?  Communication? Blogging? Social Media? Sales?

ISS: I don’t care.  Just tell me anything.

RM: You’re going to have to show me your hands.

<ISS removes one hand from below table and thrusts it on the table.>

RM: I’m going to need both hands if that’s okay?

<ISS places second hand on the table>

RM: You’ve got a lot of water in your hands – see that blue there?  That’s a giveaway, so is the shape of  your fingers and the meandering, river-like lines …they’re really quite lovely …. Water hands.

    ISS: hmmmm

RM: What they mean is this – you love to connect.  You don’t simply want clients, you want to feel part of their lives and vice versa.  You want a deeper connection than “just an impersonal financial transaction.”  Your heart is trying to lean into your clients and make them feel good and complete and … well … loved (not in a weird way) when they work with you.  You really want to be part of their life – more like a family member than anything.  This is great for folks who like it, but it could be intense for some others.

ISS: Absolutely, I LOVE my clients.  When I’m working with them I go out of my way to over-deliver.  I want them to leave happy.

RM: Are they referring friends and bringing you more business?

    ISS: Sometimes, but not consistently.

RM: Why do you think that is?

ISS: Maybe they don’t know that many people who need what I’ve got?

RM: Back to your hands, you’ve got a pretty solid and large pointer finger, especially on your dominant hand.  You’re a natural leader.  Do you have opportunities to showcase your leadership talents?

ISS: Well, you know I run the business.  Although it is just me and the cat most of the time, so I don’t really lead anyone, except maybe my clients.  And I go to networking events and I’m a member in my local association, but mostly I just show up – sometimes I’m running late and other times I have to duck out early.  What exactly does this leadership thing mean?

RM: Do you ever feel like you want to jump up in the middle of a meeting or seminar you’re attending and “teach it better”?  or do you ever get frustrated because you’re clients are not doing precisely what you’re asking them to do?

ISS: Well, they come to me for results but it’s a two-way street.  I tell them the best way to get where they want to go but they still insist on showing up without having made any progress.  Can’t they see I have their best interests at heart? Frankly it makes me feel ticked off a little and sad.

RM: In a nutshell – that’s the “leader thing” in your hands.   If those feelings are draining you it’s time you found opportunity to lead in a bonafide way.  Create a group or program that you can oversee or run for office or a leadership position in a group you believe in.  You might also want to think about narrowing your niche to working with leaders…

ISS: I’m a little resistant to this.  The last time I ran for office I ticked people off.  I couldn’t stand the way they looked at me and made me feel like I was bad for running against someone we all knew and liked.  Besides, I just don’t have time.

    RM: When was that?

ISS: High School.  >laughs<  Maybe that was a while ago.

    RM: Just think about it.

ISS: Do you think my business will grow?  If I do this leadership stuff?

RM: That’s up to you.  You’ll definitely feel more in your element, more in control and less likely to get grumpy with your clients.  That’s gotta be a good thing, right?

    ISS: Guess so.  Thanks.

So much for my playwriting career – but these are the conversations I have in my head.  The point though is this – your hands are containers of wisdom.  Your wisdom.  About YOU.  When you share them with me – either literally, or via picture or just through your description of your hands – you’ll uncover answers that you’ve been looking for.  Guaranteed.

That’s why I’m launching the Your Purpose is Your Business Mastermind in September. It’s a monthly program for you to learn about the wisdom in your hands and how to apply it to your business, your work and your life.

What do you notice first when you look at your hands?  Share in the comments!
