I had my hands read in 2004 at the urging of my marketing coach. At the time, I had a successful business and all the trappings of a lovely life. Still, I felt like something was missing. My coach, wise woman that she is, urged me to learn my life purpose and more in a palmistry session.
As soon as I got off the phone with my coach I called the palm reader who lived across the country and asked about having a session. We made the arrangements and I waited with anticipation for the ink kit to arrive. I sweated the idea that I might make my prints incorrectly, and I sent the reader about a dozen versions of my left and right hand print.
I mailed off the stack of hand prints and paperwork and waited, anxiously, for her to call and schedule our appointment.
You see, I hadn’t been fully honest with myself (or my coach for that matter). My marriage was in trouble and I knew it. I think he knew it, but I can’t be sure. I was miserably living out a limiting belief – that you can’t be successful in business and love. Where I cultivated that belief is still a mystery.
When the time came for my reading I thought that she’d predict my future and give me a list of proclamations on how to live a purpose-filled life.
Boy was I wrong.
The reading was enlightening. It was confusing. It was emotionally engaging. The reading was not a magic pill or elixir that would magically fix everything that was wrong in my life. I left the call wanting more – I wanted to know how to apply this knowledge to the life I already had. I wanted guidance for making shifts and changes. I just didn’t know where to get it.
The reading started me on a long adventure – one that, hopefully, won’t end anytime soon. It sent me looking inside for my true answers and pushed me beyond my comfort zone to find out why I was settling in some very important places in my life.
This is the point I make with all my clients – a reading isn’t the end of your quest. A hand analysis is actually the beginning of a journey to bring you back in alignment with your purpose. It’s not meant to stand alone. It shouldn’t get buried in the back of your overworked mind. It’s meant to be a useful, living tool to move forward.
This is why I’m changing the way I work.
People used to come to me and expect that after a hand analysis session they’d have complete and utter clarity and everything in their life would change for the better. They thought (as I did when I had my first reading) that they’d suddenly be able to make the hard choices in their life and that they’d be in the flow with the Universe.
That’s just not the way it works.
There’s so much to be covered in a reading of your hands – we could talk for a weekend or more just about a particular set of your finger or the way your heart line winds and breaks on your left hand but is strong and steady on your right.
Your hands are the starting point and the guide for you clearing out cobwebs and refocusing on your values – your purpose and your passions. It’s a one-size-fits-only you map for living bigger and making your hidden dreams come true.
It’s not a way to predict your future or even decide “should I stay or should I go” (Believe me, back in 2004 I wished it was!)
Here’s some of what you can expect from a reading:
- You can know yourself better – with a deeper understanding of your motivators, values and even your excuses (with knowledge comes power)
- Learn more about where “you’re coming from” in a spiritual way – why are you drawn to certain activities and not others? How come you keep dealing with the same pitfalls over and over again?
- Gain insight into breaking outdated patterns and beliefs. Your beliefs and habits have been formed throughout your life. Usually they came about because of a “good” reason – to keep you safe in some way, shape or form. Now they maybe holding you back. Perhaps they’re not useful. Your hands help us see what these habits are and give you clues to creating new patterns for growth and wholeness.
- Understand where you’re going. Your hands cannot predict your future – after all, you have complete free will. Still, they can help us make an enlightened assumption about where you’ll end up if you continue on the path you’re on.
Your hands help you shine light on what’s been hiding. They help you figure out where you really want to go and most importantly they give you specific sign posts for getting there.
None of this happens in an hour or overnight.
It comes with a commitment to do the inner work and outer work necessary to align your entire life with your purpose.
That’s why I’m phasing out stand-alone readings. Sure, they’re a lucrative part of my business – so this decision scares me from a financial point of view.
I know from personal experience that the greatest alignment with purpose comes with on-going commitment to growth. As a result, I work best with peeps who are in it for the long-haul. Working one-to-one with a handful of my perfect people, and watching them make shifts and changes – sometimes almost imperceptible changes – is amazing and fulfilling work.
What that means is that come December, readings will be available only in conjunction with deeper life purpose work – where we spend 3 months, together altering the habits and beliefs that you think are ingrained to get to the heart of you and your purpose.
If you’re on board with committing to positive change in your life, be sure to sign up for the weekly ‘zine (up there in the right hand corner) – where you’ll get specific tips and insights on moving forward on purpose, as well as early bird announcements about these upcoming changes and opportunities to work directly with me to use your hands as your life purpose guidance system.
