Today’s volunteer is Sandi Faviell Amorim. She’s the Shine Instigator and founder of Devacoaching.com and she wants you to know that even though people sometimes think you have to have it “all together” to coach others, they are human just like you!
Sandi’s question:
I’m going through a health related challenge and it’s bringing up a lot of emotions. Is there something I need that would help me get through it?
To get an idea of how Sandi “sees” her body right now and how grounded she’s feeling in it I head over to her life line. (I’ve circled it in red on both her hands).
Most people reading about palmistry (or new to the idea altogether) assume that the life line indicates the length of your life, as in, “when am I going to die?” Why anyone would want to know that is beyond me first off and secondly, I think we all have a LOT more control over that number than we want to admit. (But that’s a topic for a different post altogether.)

Sandi's Right Hand
Remembering of course that all things in a palm can change (except fingerprints) I look at life lines as a snapshot of how grounded you are in your physical (and emotional) life at this very moment.

Sandi's Left Hand
Sandi is right handed and her life line is deep and grounded as well as fairly long. With a life line like this Sandi is feeling as grounded as she can be and appears to be doing everything “the doctor ordered” to regain her health and be fully present in her care and recovery. Good news, right?!
There’s a second line that cleaves off of the life line about midway and heads south, along the inside of the life line (I’ve marked its completion point with a purple arrow). This can have a couple of meanings: a) an attack line – meaning Sandi’s angry and frustrated about the way her body has “betrayed” her and she’s feeling the need to beat herself up a bit for letting this happen to her; and/or b) This is a “protector” line helping Sandi change her habits from a bit too much “good times” to a healthier lifestyle choice (i.e., selecting the lean fish and fresh veggie entrée v. the burger and fries).
My thoughts? It’s a bit of both.
Now take a look at Sandi’s life line on her LEFT hand. It’s equally deep but more straight (heading towards the outer edge of the palm versus curving around the base of the thumb). I’ve actually drawn a little red tail outside of the circle to indicate the end of the life line.
However, this life line has a lot more “action” going on. There appears to be 2 more “shadow” life lines between the thumb and the “real” life line, and there is a bit of a line splitting off the life line in the middle and heading up toward the head line. Finally, I note that the life line starts just above the head line.
So what does it mean?
What I’m calling the “shadow” life lines are protecting Sandi from those aforementioned bad habits. More importantly, they’re significant indicators of a sense of a “second life.” Sometimes I see these in people who are truly living a double life or people who have, in their own words, “reinvented” themselves.
Less common, but worth mentioning, these lines are sometimes on the hands of a person who is a twin.
The line that splits off and aims to the head line is part of a Saturn line. The importance is this – once Sandi gets her head wrapped around the new “normal” with this health scare, she’s going to have a reinvigorated sense of her own value and will likely burst into a new creative (yet lucrative) project. It’s clear that Sandi’s values have been changing (doesn’t that happen to anyone with a health scare?) but she’s not just changing the values inside, she’s creating a project to reflect them.
The fact that the life line starts (ever so slightly) above the head line indicates to me that this health “thing” is likely family related. Something that is passed down from generation to generation (or it could be an emotional entanglement that’s got a part to play).
The Question?
Looking at the life line gives great insight into the present state of Sandi’s situation but what about her question?
On both the right and left hand I’ve made little arrow markers in black. On her left hand I’ve marked this in the space between the thumb and the first finger, and on the right, I’ve drawn an arrow over the fingers.
Sandi’s left thumb is tucked in, indicating to me that while she may be making a brave face for the public, she’s inwardly a little panicked about what’s going on. She feels like she’s at the mercy of something or someone outside of her and like she doesn’t get a say in the outcome.
The fingers on her right hand all lean toward the thumb. Indicating that Sandi believes that all work must be HARD to be worthy. She may actually create hoops to jump through when things seem “too easy.” (BTW, easy and hard are really subjective terms – what Sandi thinks is easy may be really hard to someone else and vice versa).
Finally, I’ve highlighted Sandi’s Saturn zone with light blue. On her left hand I’ve traced her strong, solid Saturn line and on her right I’ve circled her Saturn star.
Sandi is a lady who knows how to get things done. She’s been creating and completing projects with aplomb since her very first book report! She’s got a lot of project management sense and she knows exactly how to complete whatever task she puts her mind to.
Saturn is a beautiful but tough teacher – he wants us to learn the lessons of patience and timing. He teaches that we don’t plant seed and pick the fruit the next day. Sandi is infinitely talented in this growth process (which would make her an excellent coach for people who are looking for processes in their own lives).
My Answer:
Given the above information, the best way Sandi can get through all this emotion is to be with it (the emotion) for as long as it takes. This is definitely not something that can be processed or project-managed the way most things are for her and this is frustrating the ever livin’ heck out of her.
Your hands are encouraging you to let go of the need to be all things for all people who are helping you deal with this – let them see all the phases and feelings you’re feeling. They won’t think you’re whining or weak, they’ll feel relief knowing that you are totally human and that you let them in. Not because they can necessarily do anything to fix it – but because sharing in this journey with you is important to them and to you. You’ve been the “doer” for a long time, it’s okay to recognize what you can’t do with this.
Ask yourself how to get the inside and outside in balance – on one hand you have the persona of being in control and on the other you feel like a complete puppet. Ask yourself what needs to happen to merge those pieces? Maybe there’s a middle ground – where you admit you are never in control of everything health-wise and still take control of things within your reach (diet, exercise, journaling, meditation, other lifestyle choices).
The acceptance and balance is key here for you to ride the waves of these emotions. Even if you’re watching your diet or what have you – you may have a set back. That’s not a sign that you messed up – it’s being human.
Thanks Sandi for sharing your hands! I’m really honored to be part of your journey!
